String of bombings kill 101, injure 200 in Pakistan | Reuters

  • An unusually relatively honest article by Reuters about the terror war between Sunni and Shia in Pakistan. In Pakistan, the Shia comprise about 20%, so they get the brunt of it. If they were the majority, it would be the other way around. Surprising, the article is honest in pointing out that the Saudis are behind the funding of Sunni terrorist groups.

    My Diigo highlights in article:

    • (Reuters) - At least 101 people were killed in bombings in two Pakistani cities on Thursday in one of the country's bloodiest days in recent years, officials said, with most casualties caused by sectarian attacks in Quetta.
    • The bombings underscored the myriad threats Pakistani security forces face from homegrown Sunni extremist groups, the Taliban insurgency in the northwest and the less well-known Baloch insurgency in the southwest.
    • The attacks happened in a predominately Shia neighborhood and banned sectarian group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility. The extremist Sunni group targets Shias, who make up about 20 percent of Pakistani's population.
    • Targeted killings and bombings of Shia communities are common in Pakistan, and rights groups say hundreds of Shia were killed last year. Militant groups in Balochistan frequently bomb or shoot Shia passengers on buses travelling to neighboring Iran.
The killers are rarely caught and some Shia activists say militants work alongside elements of Pakistan's security forces, who see them as a potential bulwark against neighboring India.
    • Many Pakistanis fear their nation could become the site of a regional power struggle between Saudi Arabia, source of funding for Sunni extremist groups, and Iran, which is largely Shia.
    • A Taliban spokesman said they were not responsible for Thursday's bombing.

Letter to U.S. Senator opposing Hagel nomination for defense secretary

The Honorable Senator “your senator name”
(your U.S. Senator address – easy to find on the internet)
Dear Senator [John Doe]:
I am XX years old, living and working in state of [your state]. As a concerned resident of the state of [your state], I am writing to ask you to oppose former Senator Chuck Hagel as the next US defense secretary.
Senator Chuck Hagel has a very troubling voting record on foreign policy, especially concerning the Middle East and Israel. It is Mr. Hagel’s voting record and previous consistent actions over a period of more than a decade that reveal his true intentions and beliefs rather than anything he may profess during the confirmation process.
Mr. Hagel has voted several times against US sanctions on Iran. Moreover, he has made disparaging remarks about the influence of what he called a “Jewish lobby” in Washington. These comments were made to former US diplomat Aaron David Miller for his 2008 book, The Much Too Promised Land, in which Hagel was quoted as saying, “The Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.”
  •  In October 2000 senator Hagel would not sign a letter of support for Israel during the second intifada.
  •  In 2001 senator Hagel was one of only 2 senators who voted against renewing the Iran-Libya sanctions act.
  •  In 2006 senator Hagel was only one of 12 senators who refused to sign a letter calling on the EU to place Hezbollah on its terrorist lists.
  • In 2007 senator Hagel voted against placing the Iran Revolutionary Guards Corps on America’s list of terrorist organizations.
  • In 2008 senator Hagel voted against Iran sanctions.
  • In 2009, after Mr. Hagel retired from the Senate, he signed a letter urging President Obama to negotiate with Hamas.

As a concerned citizen of the state of [your state], I believe Mr. Hagel's voting record shows a consistent anti-Israel bias and position. The prospect of a nuclear armed Iran will be imminent during the term of the next defense secretary. This issue and the many more confronting the U.S. and the world require someone who embodies America’s values more than does Mr. Hagel. I urge you to vote against his confirmation.

Yours very sincerely,

[Your Name]

Morsi: No peace with descendants of apes and pigs

  • It could not possibly be more blatant than this. He not only harbors deep racial hatred of Jews, but urges that they be driven out of every Arab and Islamic country. He is openly advocating genocide. This is now the leader and soon to be dictator of the most populous and powerful Arab and Islamic country, sitting on Israel's border.
    • Newly translated interviews by MEMRI show Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2010 opposing two-state solution.
    • sraeli-Palestinian negotiations are "a waste of time and opportunities" as Arabs and Muslims get nothing out of engagement with "the descendants of apes and pigs," current Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi asserted in September 2010, according to newly translated interviews published this week by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
    • "Either [you accept] the Zionists and everything they want, or else it is war," Morsi said, "This is what these occupiers of the land of Palestine know – these blood-suckers, who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs."
    • In the result, according to MEMRI, Morsi called on Arabs and Muslims worldwide to "employ all forms of resistance against...those criminal Zionists, who attack Palestine and the Palestinians."

"Pressure should be exerted upon them," Morsi continued, so that Jews should "not be given any opportunity [to] stand on any Arab or Islamic land."

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi holds forth on 'Planet of the Apes'

    • What does Morsi reveal in this interview? (1) Morsi, like all Mohammedans, is obsessed with apes. It makes sense that he found the movie "Planet of the Apes" interesting. (1a) The writer of the movie, Rod Serling, was Jewish. (2) The movie, "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" has bomb worship. This is another modern Mohammedan theme. - post by Samuel Dinkels
    • Morsi, in a lengthy interview with Time magazine, the transcript of which Time just posted online, abruptly transitioned from discussing the U.S.-Egypt relationship to the “Planet of the Apes” movie franchise. Morsi’s point seems to be about Egypt’s need to take responsibility for its own problems. Or maybe it’s about economic self-sufficiency. Or “the role of the art.” It’s really not clear. Here’s the leader of the Arab world’s most populous nation:
      • Morsi is, like all mohammedans, obsessed with apes or "monkeys". He sounds like a real idiot. Someone should tell him that Planet of the Apes was authored by the Jewish writer Rod Serling.
